                              Prof. Yannis Phillis

Professor of Engineering-Production Control Systems
Technology University of Crete and UCLA

Prof. Phillis is in the forefront of the application of fuzzy logic to the analysis and design of production lines, queuing control, and large-scale manufacturing networks. Dr. Phillis and his coworkers have developed a new model which far surpasses traditional techniques such as dynamic programming, which have limited, if any, effectiveness given today’s increasingly complex manufacturing systems. The accuracy of their model has been proven to be nearly flawless, with superior computational speed, at a number of manufacturing companies around the globe.

Dr. Phillis is the Editor of the Journal of Intelligent and Robotic Systems. He received the Professor of the Year award at Boston University in 1986, and was General Chair of the International Conference on Management of Technological Change in both 2003 and 2005.

Prof. Phillis received his diploma in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens, Greece and his M.S. and Ph.D. in Engineering Control Systems from UCLA.
